The Simpsons redesigns their intro in HD to coincide with their update to a new widescreen format. Most of the main conventions for the intro were kept the same (i.e. bart and the chalkboard, power plant, couch gag, etc.), but many parts of the story have at least something new added/changed.
The debut episode in HD, entitled Take My Life, Please, will air Sunday, February 15th, 2009.

On first glance, we spotted at least 10 new additions including the “Mr. Sparkle” and “Tomacco” products in the Grocery scene, Maggie’s unibrowed nemesis (Baby Gerald), and other new characters.





The Good Housekeeping seal of approval redesign scraps the red, white, and blue stamp for a more elegant black and white mark.
“The thing about doing any kind of redesign of something that well known,” Ms. [Louise] Fili said, “is that you have to keep at least one element so people can make the leap. In this case it was the oval and the star, so not just the baby boomers would be able to recognize it.”
After 50 years, the penny gets a redesign.
Four new versions will be coming next year to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.
